Health & Safety Management Systems

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 Section 2 (3) states:-

“if you employ more than 5 persons then it is a legal requirement to have a written Health and Safety Policy”.

The Policy must detail the key responsibilities for Management and Employees, Subcontractors and identify the companies procedures under the various health and safety arrangements.

NOTE:Failure to have a written health and safety policy can result in the  serving of an  improvement notice by the Health and Safety Executive or Local Enforcing Authority.

For companies that employ less than 5 persons a written Health and Safety Statement of Intent would be required.
